Now, Donald Trump is breaking his silence and shares his first words about Biden’s devastating health battle.
Aggressive diagnosis
Donald Trump and Joe Biden have long exchanged barbs and insults, but Sunday’s grim news might soften tensions between the two.
On May 18, the office of the 82-year-old former president confirmed that Joe Biden has been diagnosed with stage nine prostate cancer that has spread to his bones.
The statement read: ”Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms. On Friday he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone.”
The statement continued:
”While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management. The President and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians.”
Biden’s health has long been a topic of concern among voters — especially during his time in office and his brief 2024 presidential run. After struggling in a heated debate with Donald Trump and facing mounting health questions, Biden surprised many when he dropped out of the race just three months before Election Day, passing the baton to Vice President Kamala Harris.
Trump breaks silence
During that turbulent campaign season, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre had to publicly deny rumors that Biden was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease after his on-camera performance raised eyebrows.
Now, as Biden’s health news making headlines once again, his successor and political rival Donald Trump has stepped forward with a surprisingly gracious statement.
Taking to Truth Social, Trump wrote:
”Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.”
Former Vice President Kamala Harris, who stepped up to lead the Democratic campaign after Biden withdrew, also sent her well wishes for his recovery, describing him as a strong fighter.
“Doug and I are saddened to learn of President Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis. We are keeping him, Dr. Biden, and their entire family in our hearts and prayers during this time,” Harris shared on X. “Joe is a fighter — and I know he will face this challenge with the same strength, resilience, and optimism that have always defined his life and leadership. We are hopeful for a full and speedy recovery.”
Biden’s cancer battle
This isn’t Joe Biden’s first battle with cancer.
In 2023, while still in office, he underwent surgery to remove a cancerous tumor. Before his presidency, he also had treatment for skin cancer.
Despite these health challenges, Biden has remained fiercely dedicated to the fight against cancer, especially after the devastating loss of his eldest son, Beau, who passed away from a brain tumor in 2015.
