Like so many other people I don’t use as much cash as I used to use for purchases.
It’s just so much easier to use a credit or debit card to buy items.
But I do still have a change jar with lots of pennies in it.

And you can be sure that I will be going through all my change to look for these pennys and other ones that might be worth big bucks!
According to Heritage Auctions a 1943 Copper Lincoln Cent could be worth upwards of $40,000 dollars or more.

Most 1943 pennies were silverish in color because during World War II the copper was needed to make bullet shell casings.
So in order to save copper most pennies in 1943 were zinc plated steel to make more copper available for the war effort.

Go Banking Rates pointed out that a rare 1909 Lincoln Penny with “VDB” on it sold at auction for $60,000 dollars.
VDB stands for Victor David Brenner who is a famous sculptor, engraver and medalist who designed the Lincoln cent.
You may or may not have a coin in your change container worth thousands of dollars…but it can’t hurt to look!
