If you look closely and see that Lincoln’s ear appears doubled, that means your penny has what collectors call a “doubled-die error.”
This happens when the design on the coin’s die shifts slightly during minting, creating a second image.
The doubled ear is one of the most recognizable and valuable doubled-die errors found on modern Lincoln cents.
